Press Release – 08/06/2015 Wixom Appoints New City Manager
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Wixom are pleased to announce the appointment of Clarence E. Goodlein as City Manager. Mr. Goodlein has been appointed to this position after nearly 35 years of service to the City of Wixom, 5 years as its Police Chief and 10 years as its Police Chief and Director of Public Safety. Mr. Goodlein brings to his new position, leadership and management experience that include the successful administration and direction of the Wixom/I-96 multi-jurisdictional shooter investigation and Task Force in 2012 and command of police personnel during the 1996 Ford Motor Company shootings. 

Mr. Goodlein is a 1984 graduate of Madonna University’s Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program, a 1992 Psi Chi honors graduate of the University of Detroit-Mercy’s Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology program, and a 2004 Pi Alpha Alpha honors graduate of Oakland University’s Master of Public Administration program. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and Executive Leadership Programs at both the Southern Police Institute and Senior Management Institute for Police. He is a Michigan Limited License Psychologist and Adjunct Professor of Counseling Psychology, Research Methods, and Statistics at Rochester College where he has served as such for ten years. 

Mr. Goodlein has served as a committee member and secretary of the Lower Peninsula Law Enforcement Risk Control Advisory Committee of the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Association and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Association of Professional Psychologists. 

Mr. Goodlein brings to his new duties and responsibilities knowledge, experience, and leadership that are sound and proven, and that will provide our community with success as it proceeds into the future.

Press Release - 8/12/15 Wixom Appoints Charles Yon Interim Public Safety Director and Police Chief

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Wixom are pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Yon as Interim Public Safety Director and Police Chief.  Mr. Yon has been employed by the City of Wixom since becoming a police cadet in 1988.  He has served nine years as a police officer, 15 years as sergeant and last year was promoted to Administrative Lieutenant.   

Charles Yon began his police service career in The United States Army as a Military Policeman.  He is a graduate of The FBI National Academy - Session #241, Eastern Michigan University’s School of Police Staff and Command, the Michigan Police Executive Development Seminar, The Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, and Southern Police Institute’s Executive Leadership Program.   

Mr. Yon received an honorable discharge from The U.S. Army where he served on active duty for two years and as an individual ready reserve for six years. 

Mr. Yon is a 1991 graduate of Oakland Community College where he received an Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement.  He is a 1995 graduate of Madonna University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice.  In 2004, he completed The Eastern Michigan University Master of Liberal Studies program.    

Mr. Yon served on the Executive Board for The Juvenile Officers Association of Michigan and Ontario.  He has served on several committees for The Fraternal Order of Police, Southwestern Oakland County Lodge #128.  He is an active member of The FBI National Academy and Associates, The Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, and The American Legion.
