Department of Public Works

This department is responsible for planning and delivery of the basic day-to-day public services. Key objectives include staffing and equipment levels, maintenance of a complex infrastructure system and physical structures in an efficient and timely manner to meet the City’s present and future needs. These services include maintenance of all City streets, building & grounds, public parks, sidewalks & bikepaths, traffic control, street lights, vehicle maintenance, street sweeping, roadside/ park/ cemetery mowing and snow removal and ice control. The DPW department is also responsible for providing the contractual oversight of the water and wastewater system operation, refuse collection, recycling programs, and storm water management.
