Answer to the question -- "I have received my Notice of 2008 Assessed Values and it seems inconceivable that my Assessed Value decreased while the Taxable Value on my property increased!  How so?"  Click here for further information

The Wixom City Assessor is a consultant who is responsible for preparation and coordination of the City’s real and personal property tax rolls and any special assessment rolls as they may be required. The Assessor must annually compute equitable and defensible estimates of the current market value of all real and personal property in the City and, beginning with the 1996 assessments, compute “capped values” and “taxable values” for all real properties. The Assessor is also responsible for coordinating the State’s homestead exemption program on the local level, reviewing and processing Property Transfer Affidavits, processing all property description changes, maintaining the City’s property address records and assisting the City Manager and his staff in matters relating to planning, land acquisition, tax abatement review and other related matters. The Assessor is assisted in these tasks by a full-time administrative assistant, a contractual residential appraiser and part-time co-op student employees.
